The Government of the Bahamas has announced that incoming travelers will no longer be required to self-quarantine for 14 days starting November 1st as long as they upload proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test.
As it stands now the Bahamas is reopening for tourism starting on October 15th but their ‘vacation in place‘ promotion was actually a 14 day quarantine at your accommodation and its amenities. Travelers are also required to upload a negative COVID-19 PCR test. This phase will run from October 15th until October 31st.
“While October 15th is still set for the reopening of the tourism sector, until October 31st all incoming visitors must “Vacation in Place” for 14 days or the duration of stay, whichever is shorter, which means limiting the vacation experience to the grounds and amenities of a traveler’s hotel or accommodations,” said the Government press release.
Mandatory Quarantine Removed November 1st
Starting on November 1st, the 14 day quarantine requirement will be removed as long as travelers upload a negaive COVID-19 PCR test.
“Beginning 1st November, The Bahamas will remove the mandatory “Vacation in Place” requirement for all visitors, returning citizens and residents thereby, enabling everyone to move about and explore the destination beyond the confines of their hotel or other accommodations,” the press release read.
The new COVID-19 entry requirements for the Bahamas will require travelers to present a negative PCR (swab) test no more than seven days prior to their travel to The Bahamas.
Children 10 & under and airline staff are exempt from the requirement.
Instructions for test & Bahamas Health Visa:
- Get proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test within 7 day of your arrival.
- Complete the Bahamas Health Visa Application
- Upload the negative PCR COVID-19 test during the application procedure
- Pay for your health visa
- Upon landing, travelers will receive a rapid test (cost included in visa)
- After day 5 of travels a second rapid test will be conducted (cost included in visa) Hotels will facilitate second test.
Health protocols while on the island include the mandatory use of face masks and proper social distancing.
“The Bahamas has remained diligent in its efforts to minimize the spread of COVID-19 throughout the islands, and these measures are imperative to ensure that remains the case. The health and wellbeing of both residents and visitors remain the number one priority of our public health officials.“
